Noida stands for the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority located in Gautam Buddh Nagar District of the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh. Its a planned city & managed by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (also called NOIDA). Noida is a satellite city of Delhi and is part of the National Capital Region of India.
Noida came into administrative existence on 17 April 1976 and celebrates 17 April as “Noida Day”. It was set up as part of an urbanization thrust during the controversial Emergency period (1975–1977). The city was created under the UP Industrial Area Development Act, 1976.
The Noida History - How Noida came into existence
The history of the development of the present-day Noida town can be traced back to 1972 when the Government of Uttar Pradesh, taking note of the mounting pressure of speculative land dealings in this area, closely situated to Delhi and having backward characteristics of development, declared 50 villages of the erstwhile district of Bulandshahar as the “Yamuna-Hindon-Delhi Border Regulated area” under the provisions of U.P. Regulation of Building Operations Act, 1958.
The controlling Authority of the newly declared Regulated Area considered various aspects of the development of the Regulated Area but could not do much for the establishment of a new urban center. Finally, on April 17, 1976, the Government of Uttar Pradesh notified 36 villages of the “Yamuna-Hindon-Delhi Border Regulated Area” as New Okhla Industrial Development Area (NOIDA) to ensure planned development of the area for industrial and allied uses.
